Will I get a job when I graduate?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicted there will be a 32 percent national increase in accounting jobs by the year 2005 (compared to 1992). The outlook for CPAs is very good with employers in seeking accountants for all levels and industries.

The employment growth will continue to be led by increases in the number of businesses and the complexity of financial information. Although bookkeeping and preparing taxes are important, more accountants and auditors will be needed to tailor financial information and advise management individually.

Those with a bachelor's or higher degree in accounting (particularly CPAs) should have good job opportunities. However, competition will remain for prestigious jobs with major accounting and business firms. More than half of the corporations that hire accountants feel that having the CPA designation is a key factor when choosing new employees.

TCPA members can search for the perfect job by using the Tomorrow's CPA Career Center.
