Hats off to Baltimore County schools!

The Jeffersonian, a Baltimore County community newspaper, reported that the Baltimore County school system was honored last month for its dedication to economic and financial literacy by the Maryland Council on Economic Education. Seniors in the county are required to take a half-credit course called "Economics and Public Issues," which focuses on personal finance, national economics and international economics. Congratulations to Baltimore County and to all educators who value financial literacy.

Accounting word of the week: L

Litigation support / dispute resolution: A service that CPAs often provide to attorneys — e.g., expert testimony about the value of a business or other asset, forensic accounting (a partner stealing from his other partners, or a spouse understating his income in a matrimonial action). The lawyer hires the CPA to do the investigation and determine the amount of money stolen or understated. For more definitions, go to:
