Although the accounting profession has endured a torrent of negative publicity, more college students are enrolling in accounting programs — so many, in fact, that universities are facing a shortage of professors.

Accounting grads see starting salary increase

Average starting salary offers to accounting graduates are on the rise, according to the summer 2004 Salary Survey recently published by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Currently, they are averaging $41,110.

Personal Finance 101

Ten ways to make your friends wish they knew as much about money as you do: 1. "Get your finances organized and stay organized." Paperwork is just a part of life, so start getting used to it. If you keep track of your receipts, pay stubs, tax return information and all things money-related, it will be so much easier to follow the rest of these steps, and maybe make your mom happy by having a clean room for once.
