FAQ: What is the PCAOB?

Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB): A five-member board created by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act which has the authority to set and enforce auditing, attestation, quality control and ethics (including independence) standards for public companies. It is also empowered to inspect the auditing operations of public accounting firms that audit public companies as well as impose disciplinary and remedial sanctions for violations of the board's rules, securities laws and professional auditing standards.   • Why I want to be a CPA: I want to be a CPA because if I had a billion dollars in my bank account and didn't need to work ever again, I still would like to advise people financially, hence having a CPA is a great foundation from a tax standpoint and longevity standpoint.

  • Least favorite course: Intermediate Accounting (tough course)
