TCPA member profile

Meet Lena Parenyak of McDaniel College.

  • Graduation date: May 22, 2004
  • Hobbies: Music, playing the piano, reading
  • Favorite movie: "A Beautiful Mind"
  • Why I want to be a CPA: It is the profession that attracts me with its accuracy, with less gray areas than some other professions have. CPA is a good background for any kind of profession in the business world. In addition to that, I have been interning in a CPA firm and I seem to like public accounting and auditing a lot.
  • Favorite course: Advanced Accounting, with its accounting for mergers and acquisitions. It is very interesting to solve the puzzle of consolidated financial statements.
  • Least favorite course: Rights and Revolution — some philosophy class that I took a long time ago.
  • What people say when I tell them my career choice: "Oh, interesting. I hated accounting when I took it in college." — 95 percent. The remaining 5 percent actually like accounting themselves and are approving my career choice.
