"Tomorrow's CPA Tonight" will take place at Jillian's (Arundel Mills) in Hanover on Thursday, May 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. This reception and awards ceremony is for TCPA members, faculty members and CPA speakers. Immediate job opportunity: Staff accountant

Assist with bookkeeping and payroll services for multitude of clients along with participation in compilation, audit and tax services. Duties include assistance with client billing and record retention compliance. You should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks and / or Peachtree. However, on-the-job training will be provided. Excellent opportunity for someone interested in the accounting profession to get real work experience in public accounting. Job tasks will provide an invaluable illustration of the reality of the profession. Flexible work hours requiring 8 - 12 hours per week. If the school of your dreams has presented you with a financial-aid package that would be a nightmare for your budget, don't admit defeat. Many schools are willing to change their offers after an additional review.

TCPA members capture achievement awards

Accounting students at 11 Maryland colleges and universities have received the MACPA's 2004 Outstanding Achievement in Accounting Awards. This year's winners are Portia Matthews of Bowie State University; Andrew Behles of Goucher College; Mary Katherine Nugent of Loyola College; Randolf Obeng Frimpong of Morgan State University; Lisa M. Smith of Mount St. Mary's College; Jacquelyn Battles of Prince George's Community College; Lauren Zichos of Salisbury University; Sarah Rodatus of Towson University; Bonnie Kannler of the University of Baltimore; LeAnn A. Murphy of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore; and Richard Shank of Villa Julie College. Congratulations to all the award recipients and their schools. We appreciate the participation of the college faculty in a program designed to honor and encourage students in their pursuit of the CPA.

The Baltimore chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants is accepting applications for its 2004 scholarship awards.
