Job Market: Winter audit and tax interns

Reznick Fedder & Silverman is looking for audit and tax interns for its Bethesda and Baltimore offices. This paid position offers on-the-job training as the intern provides fundamental accounting and appropriate administration support to client engagements. Interns must be working toward a bachelor's degree in accounting and have excellent communication skills, computer skills and a desire to learn. Interns need to have successfully completed Principles I & II and, at a minimum, be enrolled in Intermediate I. Interns must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Intern opportunities are available starting Jan. 3, 2005 through the completion of tax season, April 15, 2005. Please specify your preferred office location. Exam update: Latest from the State Board

At its Dec. 7 meeting, the Maryland State Board of Public Accountancy noted the following:

  • Several problems have been reported at the exam testing sites, with either staffing or technology. The Board is working with Thompson and the AICPA to resolve these issues.
  • As of Nov. 30, 527 candidates have taken the exam.
  • About 40 percent of the individuals taking the exam at Maryland testing sites were not Maryland candidates.
  • Some candidates have not scheduled their exam in a timely fashion.
