Three top tips for getting hired

1. Always send a thank-you note to anyone you meet with that may either hire you and / or can assist you in seeking a job (preferably a hand-written note, or at a minimum an e-mail).

2. If you meet with more than one professional from the same company, send separate thank-you notes and write to each professional something different including what you enjoyed about the interview (even if only an informational interview).

3. Network, network, network with family, friends, business peers, alumni, fellow worshippers, etc.

1040K event raises more than $4,000 for Maryland Saves

Runners braved the wind and rain at Rash Field for the annual 1040K Race and 1040EZ Fun Walk, sponsored by the Maryland Association CPAs. More than 200 people took part in the race to benefit Maryland Saves, a new organization dedicated to helping lower income families manage their personal finances. Maryland Saves will receive the net proceeds from the race, which this year totaled more than $4,000. Thank you, runners and the MACPA!
