Calling all CPAs: Pitch in and pitch the profession to students

The MACPA is aggressively reaching out to Maryland’s high school and college students across the state. Our Career Awareness program is now in high gear: we are finally beginning to see a little ray of light at the end of the 13-year tunnel of dwindling enrollments and few recruits.

A little of your time can make a lot of difference. Check out the variety of ways you can help students get excited about the CPA profession.

Gimme a C! Gimme a P! Gimme an A!

Sign up now for the Tomorrow’s CPA Career Awareness Program. Our 45-minute presentation has won raves from students and teachers across the state. Last year we saw more than 4,000 students at 75 schools. Join our more than 90 Career Awareness speakers. We provide materials, a video and a guide to best practices. We’ll even train you if you'd like. If you prefer, make your presence felt at a school’s career night.

Give it the old college try

MBA? CPA? Law school? Some of the brightest college students can’t make up their minds. You can help tip the scales. Volunteer to speak to an accounting club or Beta Alpha Psi chapter, or cover a booth at career night. Been back to your alma mater lately?

Looking for a few good men … tors

Join our roster of nearly 90 CPAs who have made themselves available to answer students' questions by e-mail. Wish you had had such a resource when you were a student? For details, visit our online Mentor Center.

Open your doors to interns

Help shape a young mind while you add another pair of hands. Whether it’s for one day or a whole semester, let students see what it’s like to walk in your shoes. Post a notice for interns on the MACPA Web site.

Paging all chapters

Invite students to your local chapter meetings or hold an annual student night. They can learn about the career and network for future jobs.

A whole generation out there needs to hear the good word. Let it come from you!
